Camp Name:  Mountaindale Day Camp

Camp Theme:  Renaissance Flair!

Dates:  June 16 - 20, 2008

Day/Time:  Monday - Friday, 9:00a.m. - 3:00p.m.

Location:  Mountaindale Program Center, North Plains, OR ... nicknamed 'the Shire' for this year's camp!


Camp Activity/Description:  Mountaindale East Day Camp offers fun and friendly experiences:

Age/Grade Served:

  • Girl Scouts must be entering grades 1-12 in Fall 2008
  • Ages 5 and up
  • PAIT - 7th grade and up
  • PA - 8th grade and up

Unit Information:  Please rank choices of Badge and Try-It units (first, second, third) when registering:

Overnight: June 19, 2008; (for girls entering 4th grade or higher in the Fall of 2008).  An additional $10.00 fee is collected for this event.  Include this fee with "Day Camp Registration" form and standard camp fee.   Information will follow in a confirmation letter sent to those registered for this event.


Buddies:  A single buddy request will be honored whenever possible.  Buddies will work together in the different Units that they take at camp, and must adhere to the following registration rules:

  • Request only one name as a Buddy
  • Buddies must request each other
  • Buddies must request the same Try-It/Badge units

Transportation:  All campers and PA's must ride the bus (except staff children)

  • The $10.00 transportation fee is included in the camper fee
  • The transportation fee is ONLY deductible for children of full-time (5 day) volunteers

Fees:

*Non-members of GS USA, add $10.00 to the camp fee for a membership registration only if using paper forms to register for camp and to become a member of GSUSA.  If you are registering online, then you must already be a member of GSUSA or have sent in your $10.00 payment with the application to the registrar.

*Campers (not PA's or siblings) of full time (5 day) Adult Volunteers may deduct the $10.00 transportation fee.

If using "Cookie Credits", pay the fees in full if registering online, then mail the "Cookie Credit" to the Registrar
and a refund of the "Cookie Credit" amount will be mailed to you.  If registering by mail, include the "Cookie
Credit" slip and a check for the balance of the fees.  If you receive the "Cookie Credit" after you have already registered, mail it to the Registrar prior to the start of camp, and a refund will be sent to you.


Financial Assistance:  Financial Assistance is available.  If financial assistance is needed, include a completed "Opportunity Fund for Day/Resident Camp" form with your registration.


Cancellation Policy:  If cancellation is received prior to May 1, 2008, a full refund will be granted, minus a $10.00 administrative fee.  Refunds for cancellations on or after May 1, 2008 are at the discretion of the Day Camp Directors.


Forms: Online registration is preferred, however, you can download and print the forms needed to register yourself in Girl Scouts of the USA and for attending Camp below.  You will need an Adobe reader in order to view and print the forms once they are downloaded (PDF files).  After all forms that you need to register your party are completed, you can mail them to the registrar.  Make checks payable to "Mountaindale East Day Camp" and mail payment and forms to:

Registration Open Dates:  March 1st through April 30th, 2008, or until camp is full.  Camp registration can be reviewed now for the information you will need to have handy  Please register as early as possible once it is opened!  Note that the cost of campers increases after March 31st, so you are encouraged to register as early as possible!


Online Registration:  If you and your campers are registered in GS USA already, you  may register online via the Registration page on this site.  Payments can be made online through Paypal or by sending checks to the Day Camp Registrar.  If you chose not to register online, all participants must submit Day Camp registration and health forms by mail.  Make checks payable to "Mountaindale East Day Camp" and mail to:

Tagalong Units:  Tagalong units are provided for boys, and 3-5 year olds, for on-site Volunteers helping at Day Camp during the day(s) and time(s) they are volunteering.


PA and PAITs:

  • Program Aides-in-Training (PAIT) - Girls entering 7th grade in the fall of 2008 who have not completed Council or Day Camp sponsored "Program Aide Core and Specialization Training".  They participate part of the week in training and the other part of the week practicing the skills learned.

  • Program Aide (PA) Qualifications - Girls entering the 8th grade or higher in the fall of 2008 that have completed Council or Day Camp sponsored "Program Aide Core and Specialization Training". 

For those members wishing to be Program Aides, please complete the Day Camp Program Aide Application along with the standard Day Camp Registration and Health form and send with payment.  All Program Aides are required to attend the Volunteer Training and PA Overnight.  If there is a situation that arises making it impossible to stay overnight, then please let the directors know via email or telephone ASAP so that an exclusion decision can be made.  If you can not come and stay overnight for reasons beyond your control, then please attend as much of the training and overnight activity as possible.  Directors will hold the final decision on whether a camper can still perform PA duties if the training and overnight are not attended.

Adult Volunteers:  Mountaindale East Day Camp is a fun and popular week-long Girl Scout Day Camp that operates 100% by volunteer support.  Camper placement priority is given to campers with full-week adult volunteer commitment.  All volunteers are asked to register by March 30th. or as soon as possible.  Please register online or send Adult Registration and Health forms to the Day Camp Registrar:

Volunteer Training:  To ensure a successful Day Camp experience for all, volunteer training is mandatory and consists of off-site sessions for all volunteers, new leaders and PA's.
